Check out these delicious caffeinated energy bites to fuel up on while you carb load!

Why is carb loading important? Your body burns glycogen (a form of carbohydrate that is stored in your muscles and liver) and fat while running for an extended period of time. It is much easier for your body to break down glycogen as energy vs fat. Therefore, when your body has to switch from glycogen to fat most runners “hit a wall.” This is why it’s important to carb load before your big day.

Caffeinated Energy Bites (3 Servings)


1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup almonds

1/2 cup walnuts

1/4 cranberries (unsweetened)

1 tbs. coffee grounds

1 tbs. almond milk or almond butter

What you need to do:

Places all ingredients except milk into a food processor or blender and process them until they create a ball.

Add milk to help combine the ingredients. (You may need a little extra)

The bites can be stored in the fridge or on the counter.
