Fall Into Self Care

As we speed through fall and into the holiday season it’s important to make sure you are checking in and taking time to care for yourself. So many times people wear their exhaustion as a badge of honor. Why can’t we encourage each other to take care of our selves in addition to pushing one another to work hard.

Below you will find my top 5 ways to give my a little extra love and care!

1. Massage!!!!

I can’t say enough good things about massages. Not only does it give you an hour of quiet to close your eyes and enjoy some pampering, but it has so many benefits for your body. Studies have proven that massage can help to alleviate headaches (I know it does for me), body aches, and even anxiety. It helps to increase circulation, relieve tension, reduce stress, relieve anxiety and promote sleep. Now I get it, it can be expensive, but there are so many places that offers monthly memberships and many private practitioners work on a sliding scale to accommodate your budget.

Check out Brittany Brydges for an amazing Thai Yoga Massage. Her hands are healing!

2. Pedicure/Manicure

Now guys, listen up! This is not just for the ladies. There is something about getting your nails done that just feels special. In addition to it feeling/looking good, it helps to keep your nails healthy, increases circulation, eases tension and stress. My favorite nail salon is Mi Cumbia. This place is special!! The first time I went here, Victor sent me on a special pampering day. They offer you homemade Colombian coffee or tea then put a warn compression sleeve around your shoulders if you would like one. The pedicure room is private and dimmed with only two chairs so you can sink into the chair and relax. Not to mention the 45-minute leg and foot massage in addition to the homemade coconut scrub.

3. Getting my Hair done

There is something about a new haircut, a shape up or even just getting your hair blown out that feels great! You walk out feeling like a million bucks! I need to do this one more, I always make an excuse as to why I don’t need it done yet, but every time I go I feel so confident after!

4. Saying No to things

When your plate is already overflowing you don’t want to add something else unless you really want to. If it’s not a HELL YES it’s ok to say no to things. Self care can be taking time for you to just be quiet or order food in and watch a show. There is no rule saying you have constantly be doing something.

5. Read a Book

I love taking the time to be quiet and just sit and read. There is something so soothing about having a nice hot cup or tea cuddling up with a blanket and cracking open a new book. I have been on a fiction kick so diving into a fictional world where my mind can just get lost is freeing.
