So often we get caught up in making sure the turkey is perfectly cooked, the potatoes aren't too dry, or the table settings are perfect and we forget to take time and be thankful for what's really important. The PEOPLE who are there to celebrate with us! This holiday I challenge you to go out of your way to put the thanks in Thanksgiving.
Ever since I was a little kid, my family would sit around the table for Thanksgiving and before we could eat, we would go around and say something we were thankful for. Don't get me wrong, the food was always amazing, but the thing I remember the most about that holiday was giving thanks together and watching our table grow. As I got older there seemed to be more and more people joining us for the holidays. The more the merrier.
Buy a mason jar for everyone who will be attending your Thanksgiving celebration. You can be crafty and make their name all cute on the jar if you want. Place the jars in an easy place for your guests to access with strips of blank paper and a pen. You as the host set the example and write a note of thanks for each of your guests. Fold it up and place it in the jar. When your guests arrive instruct them to place notes of thanks in people's jars throughout the night. When your guests leave they will have words of encouragement and thanks to take with them!
Enjoy the food, but put an emphasis on a thankful heart.
What are some of your favorite ways to show thanks?
